What interests you most about being a designer?

I’ve always been fascinated with science fiction movies and the fact that things, products and services can be visualized without existing. This way of foreseeing, capturing and visualizing the future is something that makes me tick and eventually led to me choosing design as a profession.

Tell us how you imagine it would feel to experience Global Chef in the home?

Cooking would no longer feel like a burden, but instead an opportunity for personal development and pleasure. It would trigger the same feelings as a work out session with a private instructor or a dinner party. I would probably start eating healthier and better meals. If we can make business meetings more efficient through new technology, why not extend this way of thinking and make eating and cooking more efficient and pleasurable?

What was the inspiration behind your idea?

I was living in Japan at the time and I was trying to prepare a premium burger and homemade fries for a friend’s birthday. I got the recipe from another friend that works as a professional chef and I was struggling to get the fries crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, so I Skyped my chef friend for help. He tried his best to guide me through but it was rather chaotic scene with hot oil spilling on the keyboard, a noisy kitchen fan and me jumping between the computer and the fryer to talk to him. The fries were a fatal fail, but my friend’s birthday was an absolute celebration and after that experience it left me thinking this could be done in a much better way

What has it been like to be in the competition?

I’ve had the pleasure to be inspired by the other contestants’ ideas, receive constructive feedback and work conceptually. It’s also been challenging, working to meet the deadlines with well elaborated research, arguments and visuals.

How have your friends and family reacted to your success in the competition so far?

They are all very happy and have been incredibly supportive.

Thank you!
