2 Stage - Concept Development

COCO will serve not only as an air purifier but also as a peculiar dynamic home accessory.

COCO does not pretend to be a high technology air purifier device, instead it’s cleverness hides in a simple solution. To function it uses the movement, natural aromas and the user’s responsible attitute to the surround environment.

COCO is an air purifier that does not consume electrical energy. The forces of integrated magnets create a slight movement of gathered COCOs. This movement makes the air to flow through, this way releasing scents and cleaning the air. There are used permanent magnets which can attract or repel each other. Repulsion is the phenomen that creates COCO’s motion. But to make the magnets dynamic the first impulse of outside is needed.

Touch the COCOs and let them work when you want it. Interaction with them can turn out to be a funny play.

Aromas.

As different we are as different are our tastes of scents and the concept of COCO try to value all of them. Changeable aroma capsules allow to create the individual aroma composition as well as family aroma coctail. Capsules are made of compressed dry wild aroma plants and spices without any aroma intensifiers. They release a slight scent around the house for a truly Natural Air as enquired people mentioned they would rather choose a light aroma for their house instead of a strong and deep scent.

Cleaning the air.

Air filter capsulas are made of compressed crystalic salt which is a natural air purifier. Salt removes unpleasant odors and bacteria. Moreover salt naturally attracts excess water and dust of the air.

A mix of aroma and filter capsules will create a sensation of freshness and purity of a meadow air to your urban home.

COCO and house.

COCOs find different places around the house to occupy. They can take a place above the dining table, at the window or next to the sofa depending on taste and imagination of inhabitants. They will serve not only as air purifiers but also as a peculiar dynamic home accessory.

The concept of COCO is to make an air purifier available for all the householders that seek to live the Inspiring Urban Living without spending extra money on exclusive devices as well as electricity. There are a lot of places on the earth where electricity is not an everyday feature, but air quality is the value which should be mandatory at any households.

Expert feedback, stage 2

Combining air freshening with dynamic movements gives the concept a natural feel. In the next development stage, in addition to showcasing the product and consumable design in more detail, you could also tell more about the functionality of the air filtering and aroma capsules, how do they work.

The COCO is a home appliance that will bring a breeze of natural air diffusing fragrance of your favorite wild plants.

Attached to the ceiling in a bigger or smaller groups the COCO’S aromatize and clean the air of our living space serving also as a delicate home decoration. Inspiration of cocoa fruit brings the concept for this air purifier. The shell of cocoa fruit covers the aromatic beans. In the same way COCO air purifier has a shell and changeable capsules of aromas or air filters inside.

Capsules are made of natural aroma plants and spices or dust absorbing materials. They can be differently composed to create your favorite aroma bouquet for the right atmosphere – wild mint, lavanda and cinnamon for inspiration.

Aromas are released by the movement created by a magnet that is integrated in the COCO design. When COCO’S are grouped together the same charged magnets have a tendency to move away from each other thus creating a slight movement.

Enjoy your time at home with a bit of fresh wild nature flavor around.

Expert feedback, stage 1

The concept has a clever usage of space and the movements plus the emotional design makes it interesting. We would like to hear more about the consumer insight and how you can develop the solution across other categories.

Functionality details.

The dynamic character is the key functionality of the COCO concept. When COCOs are touched integrated magnets are activated and the forces of magnets maintain the movement. This movement makes the air to flow through COCOs, though releasing scents and cleaning the air without consuming electrical energy.

There are been used so called permanent magnets which attract unmagnetized iron objects and can also attract or repel other magnets. Permanent magnets have two magnetic poles – North pole and South pole. Opposite poles attract each other, and like poles repel each other. Repulsion is the phenomen that makes COCOs to function.

A magnet is integrated in the case of COCO and when COCOs are grouped magnets are positioned at one level, though the same magnetic poles naturally tend to repel. Position of magnets at one level is attained by withholding the same distance between the attachment point and COCOs. The right position of magnets not only provides the repelling effect, but also avoids the attraction.

Touch to COCOs reveals dynamics and aromas that this peculiar air purifier diffuses around the living space.

Atmosphere and air quality at living spaces

The survey “Atmosphere and air quality at living spaces” was carried out in order to understand the habits of urban house residents which they practice to improve the atmosphere at their houses as well as to obtain detailed information about air purifiers already used by them.

Results of the survey show that pleasant atmosphere is important for house inhabitants and it is also noticeable that respondents associate the pleasant atmosphere with clean and fragrant air as one of the important indicator of a nice atmosphere.

It can be seen that inhabitants try to create an environment that is suitable exactly to their personal taste and this is the action that makes them to “feel at home”.

The survey shows also a general opinion about common air purifiers available at supermarkets. Home inhabitants do not prefer to use them at their homes because of several reasons, where too strong and artificial smell was mentioned the most next to such lacks as: necessity for too frequent change, unattractive appearance and other.

Here are some of the answers that mark the general view of respondents.

Capsules_How do they work?

COCO’s user can choose to mix aroma capsules of fragrant herbs and air cleaning capsules for the best result of freshening air at home.

Aroma capsules are made from natural fragrant herbs which are dried and pressed to form the shape. The capsules will release a slight scent around the house while cleaning capsules will purify the air.

The cleaning capsules are made of dust absorbing material or pressed crystalic salt which is a natural air purifier. Salt removes unpleasant odors and bacteria. Moreover salt naturally attracts excess water.

So how do they work?

The movement serves as a catalyst to activate the capsules. When COCOs are dynamic the air flows through the capsules.

From the aroma capsules airflow catch different scents and afterwards speards them around house.

Whereas cleaning capsules catche the small parts of the dust in the air and neutralize unpleasant smells from the air flowing through.

Interaction between human and things. Why is it important for COCO concept?

I think interaction between human and things around is especially important at our living spaces. This some kind of ritual makes us to feel more conected with the space we live in and things we daily use. Organizing your favorite books in the shelf, putting the lamp in the place you like, adding, changing things and colours at your home. I call it interaction.

As I have mentioned COCOs function because of the movement created by magnets, but to make magnets dynamic the first impulse of outside is needed. Make a light touch to the COCOs and let them work when you want it.¬

How exactly does it function?

COCO is an air purifier that doesn’t consume electrical energy. Therefore, how does it actually works? The secret hides in forces of integrated magnets that create a slight movement of gathered COCOs. This movement makes the air to flow through COCOs, though releasing scents and cleaning air.

⃰ There are been used so called permanent magnets, which attract unmagnetized iron objects and can also attract or repel other magnets. You probably have several permanent magnets on your refrigerator door at home. Permanent magnets have two magnetic poles – North pole and South pole. Opposite poles attract each others, and like poles repel each other. Repulsion is the phenomen that makes COCOs to function.
